Day Three of the Cleanse
The day and evening before I decided to cleanse, I ate a ton of crap and just loaded my body down. I felt stupid for doing it, but every now and then a girl has got to have a girls night with her best friend. So, I decided it would be the perfect time to just buckle down and do it!
Since I ate all that crap like I said, I didn't expect much of a weight loss on the first day. I had only lost 0.2 of a pound. I ignored that haha. Then this morning I lost a litttttttle bit more and weighed 162.8. Even though that is less than a pound, I was happy because I haven't seen 162 in YEARS! So tomorrow I am hoping and PRAYING that I lose at least a full pound. I would be ecstatic to see two.
It is difficult to eat so healthy on a long school day. But I prepared correctly thank goodness and had baggies of fresh fruit to bring with me. I pretty much ate fruit all day long haha. I hope that it didn't make too big of a difference that I ate it when I was hungry rather than eating the "every 2 hours" guideline that I am following.
I feel lighter and my pants are falling off. That's a good sign though right?! haha. My boyfriend was walking with me today when he bumped into a guy that he knew and after chatting with him for a minute proceeded to tell me this guy was "checking me out". I know it's silly but it was extremely flattering. WHO CARES that this dude was probably 40. LOL. And then, I bumped into someone I knew and he told me that it looked like I've lost a lot of weight! This day was SUCH a boost for my confidence! It was so encouraging to see that the hard HARD work I've been doing is paying off.
When people notice you, it's very addictive. I am trying to be humble, but I mean who doesn't want to get more compliments?!
Aside from that, my day was rather uneventful. So, kisses and goodnight all!

Wow, hi again!
As I sit here in my bed, surfing the net, I'm also looking through a book on my nook called Power Foods from the editors of Whole Living magazine which is a Martha Stewart spin off I think. I'm excited to see what yummy healthy things this book has in store for me!
I just got my nook a couple of weeks ago for my birthday and let me tell you...ADDICTED! Loving this thing so much. I am a huge magazine junkie and the prices I was paying were awful compared to the lovely cheap prices I'll be paying for monthly subscriptions. Thank God for electronics! I am currently reading Women's Health and Self.
So I've been training for a 5k since January. Not necessarily a particular 5k, just the 5k distance in general. I finally got to the last workout on Sunday. I did the whole thing! I jogged for 30 minutes straight without stopping. The last few minutes were difficult, but jogging is now so much easier and enjoyable than it used to be! I had my birthday a couple of weekends ago, and I splurged on a few Nike shirts and some accessories for my iPhone to run with. I try to tell everyone that when it comes to motivation, nothing helps like new EXERCISE CLOTHES!
No joke, when my boyfriend finally decided to splurge on those pricey running shoes, he wanted it more than ever lol. So anyway, I am up to the 30 minute mark and I sure am proud of myself. I have been planning for the last month to run in my community's annual "Dala Horse Trot" during the Swedish Festival the town throws every year. They offer a 10k and 2 miles this year in place of the 5k which I suppose is a bummer since I trained for it, but I think now I'll just focus on upping my times for the 2 miles. :D
There are a pair of shoes I'm thinking about rewarding myself with once the race is complete. Nike's new Lunar Glide+ 3's are SO CUTE and SO COMFY! I had the opportunity to try them on at the Nike Factory Store when I was at the coast. If you ever have a chance to go there, please. GO. Almost everything is on sale and cheaper than in a regular Nike store or online. It's to DIE for! Anyway, the colors I want are so bright and exciting! Here they are:

For those of you still listening...
And mean, actually care. You can see, or at least I can remember, the struggle it was for me to feel love for my body and myself. I remember how difficult it was because, two posts ago, I paid for P90X and couldn't do it past two weeks. I remember my boyfriend telling me, "Stop saying you're fat!" (He hated that...he thought I was beautiful, and perhaps he was right).
He then went on to add, that if I really thought I was fat, then I should be putting the $160 dollars worth of exercise DVD's to use. He wasn't being rude or putting me down. He was just stating the truth. And he was saying it in LOVE.
Gosh, I remember the impact that had on me. First of all, it made me MAD. LOL how do you like that?! It made me MMMMAAAADDDD!!!!! Why did it do that?! Well, probably because he was right. And it pissed me off knowing that he was right ;) Then it really hit me. This was pathetic behavior. I couldn't believe my lack of self control. I remember crying in the shower, just begging God, please...please Lord help me! HELP ME!!!! I needed His hand on all of my attempts!
I also gave Him a list. Yes, people. I gave the Almighty a list. I told Him, you know what? I need a partner. There is NO one around here who I know that wants to be healthy and exercise with me. My family isn't interested, my boyfriend isn't interested, and my best friend lives far away. I also told Him that I needed to start eating healthy but that I didn't know how to get rid of all the cravings and temptations. I may have even mentioned a gym membership in that list. But most of all I just remember wanting to be loved. Not just by Him, because I KNEW that He loved me.
I wanted ME to love me.
I love Happy Endings... don't you? Well this is even better! It has turned into a Happy Beginning for me. In April of last year, after my failed p90x attempt amongst many others to turn my lifestyle around, God blessed me yet again. My neighbor enlisted me as a gym partner. She asked that I watch her kids once a month, and she would PAY for my gym membership. Free? Yes, that membership seems like a gift because I love those kids that it doesn't feel like work. And my best friend and I joined My Fitness Pal in which we could encourage each other to keep eating healthy and working out. She lived about 4 hours away, but she still stuck it out with me. That kind of support is priceless. God is good.
Then somehow, I was able to eat healthy! I kept praying and trusting the Lord, and you know what?! He did this WITH me! I didn't think about dinner while I was eating lunch anymore. I didn't crave fast food. I stopped being so hungry all the time. I ate SO healthy. The healthiest I think I've ever eaten in my life. And then, I got happy. God showed me by learning about HIS love, how to slowly start loving myself. And I do! I love me!
Guys, I had a little bump around the holidays, but I've been back since January.
I've lost 21 pounds since last year, and I am SO never going back to who I was. I thank God so much for His blessings and presence in my life! I would have never been able to do this on my own...let me tell you. Without Jesus guiding my every bite and step, I wouldn't be here right now. I've started running and practicing for the 5k. I am almost there! I also plan on running in our community's 2 mile race this summer. My boyfriend has become inspired to start running with me! This is a feat in and of itself! He also doesn't eat fast food as much as he used to. I am so proud of how far I've come, but like I said, the credit goes to Jesus. I will continue to enlist His help in everything I do. I hope you come to know Him and all the love He has for you. I also hope you will see His touch on your life and see all the amazing things that can happen when you let Him in!!!
xoxo until next time...

Day 2 of P90X
Felt kinda Frisky! (1/12/11)
So, I really wanted to get started on p90x today. So I did :D
I’m super excited and totally motivated at this point. Although, I did take my before pictures and I about wanted to cry. Looking at myself in the camera was just a little too much for me. I mean, I knew I was heavier than I liked, but thinking about what everyone else including my BOYFRIEND saw was humiliating. I don’t want to screw up my body anymore. Something has got to change. So I did my p90x first day! I started off with the Classic program (offers the Lean as well) and got to working on my chest and back as well as the Ab RipperX.
My impression of it was this…wow! Great workout! I was really nervous it was going to be super hard. Well, I don’t think it was as hard as it could have been for me because I really toned it down a lot. I didn’t want to hurt myself on the first day! But after the first week I am really going to BRING IT because I want those dang results!!! I think that people also just say OMG IT”S SO HARD because they mean, “It’s difficult to even do them move, let alone do 5 of them”. Military pushups, diamond pushups and dive-bombers are new things to me. I have never done them in a workout before so obviously I will only be able to do the modified ones, which I did. If I can ever get fit enough to do a regular guy pushup then heck yeah I’m gonna rock those ones too! But like I said, the most difficult part of it for me was being able to even get my body to do 4-5 of each pushup style.
Ab RipperX was also the same sort of thing for me. I definitely felt like it wasn’t as hard as everyone said it was. I think that maybe it’s because I stopped in the middle of each 25 rep move. Well, then DUH Sam, it’s not going to be that hard because you didn’t do the whole thing! So, that means that I’m gonna have to push it like CRAY-ZAY next time.
In the end, my arms feel like rubber, and that was probably the greatest pain from my workout so far today. I’ll let ya guys in on how I feel tomorrow, it could totally be a different story….

It came today!!!
I've spent a lot of this last week obsessing about it, thinking, talking, and wondering about it. I am very determined as well as really nervous about it. I want/hope to start tomorrow and I really will try to blog as much as I can during the week to tell you guys how I am and how I'm doing. I also hope you guys will encourage me to do my best and "Bring it!" every single day.
My short term goal is to finish this first week. My next goal would be obviously to finish the second week and the first 30 days. I really struggle a lot with nutrition...the plan that they offer is really detailed and strict. This is obviously a good thing. So tomorrow I plan on going to the store and buying some groceries for the week. I don't think it will be much harder to follow this plan than it was for me to follow my other healthy eating habits. Habits which I often fail to do. I really hope that I don't mess up when it comes to the eating part. I know that the way I look at the end of 30 days is really going to be based a lot on how I eat.
So that being said, I think I'll do my before pictures tomorrow too because I am TOO impatient to wait another day!!! I won't waste tomorrow! Might as well start you know?! So, wish me luck, pray for me lots, and keep checking in to see how it's going!

Goals for P90X :D
So here are my goals for this week peeps. I plan on having my mom (bless her soul) take my before pictures and measurements so we can have something to go off of when I get done with the program.
Interjection- I am going to need SO much encouragement during these next 90 days guys. I mean seriously...I am so freaked out about all of this. I am SO scared I am totally going to fail. I know that's NOT a very positive attitude to have before this. I mean, I AM going to do this. I will do my stinkin' best with God's strength! But there is always that little doubt inside my head. So, please pray for me and encourage me as much as you can!
Back to the goals: I want to keep some fruit in my bedroom. Since I spend a lot of time in there, I want to be able to have healthy options in front of me instead of having to go to the kitchen to look for food. I also want to keep working out to Jillian Michaels prior to starting P90X. I need to be PREPARED haha.
Also, I have created a long term goal. My goal is to lose either 30 lbs, 2-3 pants sizes, or just look plain ripped by the time it's hot enough to go floating on the river this summer. :D I remember discovering it this last summer and floating is my new favorite thing! I also remember how bad I felt wearing a one piece the entire time with my shorts and tank over it. I don't plan on doing that again.
wish me luck-
XOXO Sam

I've done something completely and utterly insane...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kill me now, please. I did one of Jillian Michael's DVD's today to mentally prepare me for what an hour workout might feel like, and honestly, it was only 50 minutes and I almost died.
This could be really bad people. It's me, Sam. The lazy, fickle one, remember?
But here I am trying to do what's best. I have got to do something here people!!!! I need to be strong! Build endurance! Get some
I am going to try to blog about every single day of my P90X experience. I was researching online and there aren't nearly enough "real life" blogs out there about P90X, unless the real life blogs I found were so amazingly extreme it didn't seem real and I just wrote them off as an advert...We will find out.
My main goal is this...
Last year, I discovered how amazing and fun it is to go floating on the river on a raft during the summer.
I am NOT about to go out there again in a one piece. It's time to get my bikini on!!!!! And by golly if it takes me forever I will work my butt off to look hecka hot in a bikini by the time it gets hot enough for river rafting. Yes. I will.
So please, keep your eyes and ears open for the blogs that will change it all for me. I will blog next when my package comes in the mail...I will include info about what the program entails and what I will be doing for the next 90 days. This is going to be a HUGE experience for both you and me. You, will find out the real truth about P90X and if it works or if it's hard or if it's worth your money without doing any of the work. I, will find out those same exact things doing all the hard work!!!! LOL
I'll keep ya posted guys! xoxo and wish me luck and great endurance!!! AND motivation!

October Challenge Day 2!
I went outside, ready to jog. I usually put my keys up on the brick column holding up the front of our house. It's kind of high up so you can't see the top, but I can reach up there and hide my keys! I don't like running with them....well, how the heck was I supposed to know there was a partition or in other words, a dang hole further away from the edge?!!!
So, basically my keys are inside the bottom of this huge brick column and I can't get them :( Needless to say, I jogged, then had to wait for my mom to come back home and let me in! haha
So on Day 2 of the Oct. Challenge I have done over 20 minutes of activity! I ran/walked for 30 mins using the Couch to 5K app on my phone! I really bust up my legs when I push too hard, remember? So, while I was waiting for mom to let me in the house I did some bicycle crunches, and push ups :D AND LOTS OF STRETCHING! My right calf is still aching...
Anyone know what to do for a sore calf that feels like the beginning of a shin splint?!!
Anyway, so update on last night...I was pretty much tempted by EVERYTHING. I was helping a friend out with a HUGE family reunion. I got paid to have eat, chat, and clean basically! My plan was this: I would go ahead and try some of the things that looked really good as long as it was only a spoon full amount. I did that will probably 5 things. Those things made up probably one and a half servings or so. I also had a salad and some of the sausage they had! Everything was SOOOOO yummy!!! :D But here is where I was really tempted...and decided to give in...

I Feel Good!
I'm really proud of myself! I have stayed mostly on track this week with my jogging and healthy eating!
Yesterday was really really busy and I ended up eating 2 slices of pizza because I really had no other way of eating dinner. BUT they were small pieces and they weren't as tasty as I remember pizza used to be!
As for the Oct. Challenge I ended up doing some bicycle crunches in front of the tv, stretching, and walking to the football game and back home to Bobby's house! So all in all that would account for 20 or so minutes of activity! And I'm really glad I joined up for this!
Oh and by the way! I was worried when I stepped on the scale this morning that I would have gained a pound because of the carbs last night....but NO!
Instead I LOST a pound! YAY!!!!
So as my mom said to me..."I must be doin' somethin' right!"
Now I'm on my way to go help out with a friend's family reunion!!!!
(p.s. I feel good in my shorts!)
Until later...XOXO Sam

WOW. I Just Wanna Say...
Now, usually I walk in the mornings or evenings for almost an hour. But I LIKE my Saturday and Sunday off! I know, I probably should do some sort of activity on those days...maybe I will! Especially with this new challenge! I feel obligated, motivated, determined, and ready to go! I hope you visit her blog and keep up with her progress as well as the many others who have joined in!
Oh, on another note....a bummer one for me :( This morning I was jogging and felt a shin splint coming on. My right leg to be precise. It sucks because now I have to baby it and perhaps not jog for a few days. I will only be able to walk in order to preserve my legs! I run on the road so it's really really bad for me. I could go to the track but I would still have to walk a mile to get there! I should though...haha.
This will be the third time to get shin splints if this actually keeps acting up with my right let. I gotta learn to let up once in awhile! And this is what I think of SHIN SPLINTS:
